(text-style: "blur")[pomona air] is a game set in [[1996->19962]].That means things like Google, Facebook, Twitter, hashtags and the iPhone don't [[exist]]!Bill Clinton is the president. The economy is booming! Everything is great. There's really nothing to [[complain]] about.Yet [[something]] just doesn't feel right.Pomona Air aims to explore that [[//something//->simulator]].At the same time, Pomona Air is also the the world's [[premiere->accurate]] 1996 simulator.For example, here we go: [[Independence Day->director]] or [[Twister->director]]?Okay, [[Madonna->country]] or [[Alanis Morissette->country]]?Nice! eBay or Craigslist?See, your answers help the game to better [[understand]] who you are as a player, so that your experience can be geared toward your particular //play// style! (This isn't some //The Lawnmower Man// stuff either, you can rest assured).Seriously. We designed a very complex [[algorithm->algorithm2]] just for Pomona Air. It's kind of neat but also easy to miss!So, in addition to learning about you through your answers, the game posseses this rather complex [[randomizer]] sequencer.And it took us three months to get it [[right->perfect]].Here, let's walk over to the [[Infinity Bookshelf->bookshelf]] and show you.[[Grab->grab]] a book.You pick up (either:"//Heart of Darkness// by Joseph Conrad","//The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle// by Haruki Murakami"). That was totally random! That's a good book too. Here, [[try again]].You pick up (either:"//Magnetic Field(s)// by Ron Loewinsohn","//Brand New Cherry Flavor// by Todd Grimson"). See? Also, another good one. Okay, [[one more]] time.You pick up (either:"//Bird by Bird// by Anne Lamott","//Gun, With Occasional Music// by Jonathan Lethem"). Ta-da!!! It's impossible to pick up the same book [[twice]].Last we checked, the permutations are practically endless. The bookshelf holds something like (either:"10 million","100,000","12 billion") books. It's all code. Again, another element that took [[months]] to develop.We can't prove that any of this is actually true. It's all code. You simply must take our word for it. (Unless you fancy [[restarting->startfakeone]] the game). You can trust us though. There would be no point in lying about [[any->lies]] of this.Okay, so now, let's make our way to the (either:"salt water fish tank","Canadian maps","Tamagochi") [[room]].Some elements, when you interact with them, will [[interact]] back.For example, over there, there's a Chinese gong. Go ahead, [[touch->gong]] or [[hit->gong]] it, whatever.You hear the gong, right? Now wait until it's done ringing. [[touch->Hit]] it or [[hit->Hit]] it again.
<audio src="http://static1.grsites.com/archive/sounds/musical/musical046.wav" autoplay>How come it sounded [[different]] this time?
<audio src="http://static1.grsites.com/archive/sounds/musical/musical049.wav" autoplay>Just like in real life, nothing ever sounds the same twice. Of course, in Pomona Air, this effect is exaggerated, slightly, for a lot of reasons we won't get into, but it's still pretty 1996-[[realisitic]].You've come far enough at this point that it's time to confess something, only because we really [[like]] the answers you've picked so far.Or, the game is more like 25% done. It's [[incomplete->complete]], plain and simple. There's no other way to put it.We're a little embarassed to admit but, we're just a small team of three. We're not a big studio or anything. We're people, just like you. And all we have to offer right now, is this [[demo->allowed]]. We don't really have a game. There isn't a game, at all. Like, Pomona Air doesn't [[exist->exist2]].Okay, so Pomona Air does exist, just, not as a [[completed]] game.You're playing it right now but it's only [[half-done->demo]].If, at this point, you feel like you've been duped, we're really sorry and offer the [[ending]], to you, as recompense. It's totally easy, we've programmed it into this demo and it's totally legit, but, like, it's up to you. If you want to find out the secret and mystery behind Pomona Air.
But if you're cool with this, how it's been going so far, and you [[trust->show]] us, we've got plenty more to show you.This is the end and we lied to you. Not about the money part. Yeah, we really did run out of money to make this game. But we never made the ending, because who makes the ending before the rest of the game is done? We do have an ending ready and all that, written out. But it's just not here yet. Sorry. [[Restart]]?So, we're going to show you a little bit of the game. Literally, bits and pieces. We're going to be jumping between events. The game is not complete, so expect a few glitches and a couple [[dead ends->HAVE TO]]. Pretend you're looking to fund the game and we're showing you a demo so you can know you're investing your money into this.Before we do that though, we totally forgot to talk about the custom sound generator we created for Pomona Air. The [[Quantus Personified Sound Generator Mark II->great]]. The engine for the sound generator was written entirely in code and it's a shame you cannot see the game's guts (so to speak) because it really is incredible.We researched tons and tons of different sounds and studied literally hundreds of barometric pressure readings from 1996. As a result, we have, to the best of our knowledge, faithfully reproduced, in the most accurate way possible, the sounds of 1996. Pretty much any sound you can imagine, from 1996, the sound generator can [[reproduce->produce]].Take, for example, this [[thunderstorm]] from June 13th in Montana at 6:38pm.
<audio src="http://static1.grsites.com/archive/sounds/nature/nature005.wav" autoplay>The Amazon Jungle. This is during the third week in March or April. A little after 3 o'clock in the [[afternoon->synthetic]].
<audio src="http://static1.grsites.com/archive/sounds/nature/nature027.wav" autoplay>All of these sounds, of course, are synthetic and totally not real. Not even for [[a second]]. But they're very close to the real thing.Another thing we want to touch upon before jumping into the demo, is the game's ability to really get to know you. It's amazing code. And it is all part of the Pamona Air [[experience]].By the way, is your favourite colour (either:"sapphire","indigo","gerulean","opaline green")? [[No->no1]] or [[yes->yes1]]?Well, you can't always be right. Even the computer makes mistakes sometimes. The computer has learned more about you though, because of your [[answer->answer2]].Really? That's [[amazing->answer2]]!See, to a computer, there's no such thing as a //right// or //wrong// answer. It's all just binary! And sorry about this but things are about to get ultra [[creepy]].The game is going to try and guess your name. [[Cool]]?Is it [[(either:"J=da-fdggttnbht btthhtth=s ^#(In___-=+cnwrw^#^^rf","UEuw(%_s^jd=-=-==--=..,<<>cjas/sadfrftl kfgkfgbrrr$>#epv")->name3]]?Okay, no. So that wasn't supposed to happen. Obviously one of the [[glitches]], see? The code isn't 100% stable.How about, instead of all that, we now look at a //moment// from the game? The entire game is split into what we call //moments//. They're like chapters, or scenes. Vignettes, if you will. Would you like to play one of these [[moments->moment]]?So we showed you the Infinity Library and Quantus Personified Sound Generator Mark II, which is all super neat and everything, but at the end of the day, it's just behind the scenes stuff, which is all very important to the game but let's move away from that now. How about, let's actually show you some of the [[final->real]] game, yeah?Okay. This is like, several minutes-worth of gameplay. Make sure you've got some time set aside to play the game [[properly->save button]].A few Pomona Air things we would like to highlight:
* No saves
* No boss fights
* No winning or losing
* No going back
* True uncertainty (like in real life)
* The right answer isn't always the best answer
* You cannot be best friends with everyone
* There is always something else happening somewhere else; because life slows down for no one
* You are not the center of the universe
* This is a game for people who don't like to play video games
* This is also a game for people who don't like to read, a lot
* There are about a dozen features you will never discover because the game is incomplete
* Remember to take your time, there's a lot that can happen
Are you [[ready->Ready]]?Okay. So, this is like, the beginning. Scene One. Or Chapter One. It can be either. What would you rather if you could choose? How do you want to look at it? Do you want to go with [[Scene One->heat3]] or [[Chapter One->heat2]]?Pomona, California
[[1996->1996fake]]Wait, did you skip ahead to tne ending during the demo? I mean, it's either a [[yes->yes5]] or [[no->no5]] answer. Pretty simple.Okay, cool. You were honest, You didn't lie. The game knows that so it will [[reward]] you.Okay, you lied. And we told you the game was paying attention. Liars don't get to play so you're stuck here. And no, there's no hidden easter egg or anything. It's just this page. Because you're a liar. And there's no return button.You get to continue, so, right--back to the beginning. [[Enjoy->1996]].Pomona, California
[[1996->startfakeone2]]Since you're just wanting to test out our random chaos book generator aka Infinity Library, we're not going to make you slog through the entire beginning portion again. Here's the [[WARP->grab]] button back to picking out books!**Scene One**

Whoops. That was not supposed to happen. Not yet at least.[[ Ignore->landscape]] that, please. (text-rotate:180)[bug.]<img src="https://i.imgur.com/0LaKvXo.png"alt="title" width=140%>
